Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is an integrated information system used to support business processes and manage company resources. This system offers strategic benefits and operational improvements, and can even create competitive advantages for the company. I still recall attending a training session for an ERP product, where the instructor remarked, “Once you master the **** System (name omitted for ethical reasons), you’ll never starve.” The instructor meant that if you can master the ERP product, then you will always have a job. Investing in ERP products requires quite a large amount of funds. Hence, it is almost unlikely for companies to replace their ERP systems with other systems. It is a contradicting situation, on the one hand the investment required is very expensive, yet not all ERP implementations can run successfully.
